I have just released version 2.2 of my WordPress plugin WP-CMS Post Control. You should be getting the notification next time you login to your WordPress site and I have double checked the online update works fine!

This update catches a small bug when saving with no options and adds a new feature allowing you to limit the number of revisions saved in adition to the existing function of turning off WordPress post revisions.

I released version 2 of my WordPress plugin WP-CMS Post Control in March 2010, which was a complete re-write of the original functionality to bring it upto WordPress 2.9 compatibility. You should note that Post Control v2.x is designed to work with WordPress 2.9 and above ONLY, if you are using an older version of WordPress, there is no better time to upgrade!

Since then I have gone through a few point revisions catching bugs and adding the last few parts of the previous versions functionality, which is now complete.

Just to let you know I have just updated my WP-CMS Post Control plugin to improve WordPress 2.7 compatibility.

If you are using a version below WordPress 2.7 you can still continue to use the previous version - you won’t even get the update notification in the plugins page, clever huh! You are advised to upgrade your main WordPress install of-course as soon as possible.

WP-CMS Post Control plugin v1.11 has now been released – amongst other minor refinements it introduces a new control to hide the bottom area or the editor sidebar – allowing you to hide the editor shortcuts and the ‘Press It’ feature.

It also allows more control over the text in message boxes. It still blocks code, but now doesn’t strip-out punctuation such as ‘hello’ and this/that.

The other major part of this upgrade follows some research into why this plugin doesn’t work for a handful of people, as I was finally able to re-create the issue! It seems that a variable could clash with a global variable set in another plugin or theme functions file, stopping Post Control working. I have now renamed my variable to stop potential clashes with badly behaving variables hanging around.

Just to let you know I have just updated my WP-CMS Post Control plugin to swat a few bugs and typos.

This fixes some issues in v1.02 that broke the form fields in the options page - sorry! You are advised to upgrade as soon as possible if you installed v1.02, because this version of the plugin won’t function correctly due to some typos in the code.

I have also revised the admin control after some feedback received through comments – hopefully this will make it a little clearer for all users how this functions.

Just to let you know I have just updated my WP-CMS Post Control plugin to swat a few bugs and typos – no new functionality has been rolled out.

There are a handful of people that this plugin hasn’t worked for and hopefully this new version may have fixed that. I’m still scratching my head as I know it works for a number of people on different server, and I have personally tested it on 4-5 completely different web server environments and it works perfectly.

Just to let you know I have just updated my WP-CMS Post Control plugin to control all aspects of WordPress 2.6. Other new features in this version include the ability to turn-off the Flash uploader, disable post revisions, disable auto-saving and insert a custom message box below the text editor.

This is an important step for this plugin, allowing some really useful CMS features for WordPress, especially for web developers, as they are not piling up post revisions whilst developing sites and can just turn it back on when the site goes live if required.
