You wither love it or hate it, but Twitter has it’s uses!
I recently came across the Twitter stream for the WordPress Trac system, which keeps a complete record of chages and commits to the core WordPress code.
You can follow whats going on by checking out this Twitter account.
WordPress 2.6.2 is now available for download, and is recommended for all users.
WordPress 2.6.2 plugs a potential vulnerability effecting all PHP applications – SQL Column Truncation (not just WordPress!), but is especially relevant to systems (like WordPress) if you have registration open to any user – so this update is pretty much essential if you are running a blog or website with a configuration such as this.
WP-CMS Post Control plugin v1.11 has now been released – amongst other minor refinements it introduces a new control to hide the bottom area or the editor sidebar – allowing you to hide the editor shortcuts and the ‘Press It’ feature.
It also allows more control over the text in message boxes. It still blocks code, but now doesn’t strip-out punctuation such as ‘hello’ and this/that.
The other major part of this upgrade follows some research into why this plugin doesn’t work for a handful of people, as I was finally able to re-create the issue! It seems that a variable could clash with a global variable set in another plugin or theme functions file, stopping Post Control working. I have now renamed my variable to stop potential clashes with badly behaving variables hanging around.
Just to let you know I have just updated my WP-CMS Post Control plugin to swat a few bugs and typos.
This fixes some issues in v1.02 that broke the form fields in the options page - sorry! You are advised to upgrade as soon as possible if you installed v1.02, because this version of the plugin won’t function correctly due to some typos in the code.
I have also revised the admin control after some feedback received through comments – hopefully this will make it a little clearer for all users how this functions.
Just to let you know I have just updated my WP-CMS Post Control plugin to swat a few bugs and typos – no new functionality has been rolled out.
There are a handful of people that this plugin hasn’t worked for and hopefully this new version may have fixed that. I’m still scratching my head as I know it works for a number of people on different server, and I have personally tested it on 4-5 completely different web server environments and it works perfectly.
